General improvements to GeneRoot
The project aims to increase speed and efficiency in the GeneRoot project.
Speed is a crucial part in any research and development environment. With
the advancement of genomic sequencing technologies the speed of acquisition
and the size of the data being handled in the field has shown growth by an
exceptionally large factor in the last decade. As such GeneRoot and tools
like it will be used for the analysis of amounts of data far exceeding
the currently seen ones. Speed may be gained by employing a variety of
different methods including: faster/more optimal search algorithms, better
compression/ordering of data without loss of information and exploiting
the full potential of modern hardware. Some of these methods will be
tested and employed in the project.
